Fall 2017 Scholarship Application Deadline: CLOSED August 18, 2017
The purpose of the Southwest Tribal NARCH Scholarship Program is to help American Indian students graduate from interdisciplinary health-related graduate degree programs.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be an enrolled member in a federally-recognized tribe.
- Applicant should be accepted in a health-related graduate degree program.
- Preference will be given to members of tribes in New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado (IHS Albuquerque Area Region service area).
Scholarship Requirements
- Currently registered for classes in a health-related graduate degree program at a United State accredited college or university.
- Required to be “in good academic standing” at their university and expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0, or equivalent.
- Copy of tribal ID or proof of tribal enrollment
- Copy of transcript(s) (unofficial student transcripts accepted)
- Copy of Class schedule (student identifier must be referenced on document)
- Resume/CV
- Two(2) current letters of recommendation
- Statement of interest (350-word maximum): 1) Describe how this scholarship will help you pursue your goals in a health-related research field; 2) Provide details of health research experience (if any); 3) Describe your future research plans to improve the health of American Indians; and 4) Describe your experience (professional or volunteer) working in a tribal community.
